Negative Pressure Wound Therapy
EXSUDEX® UNITS AND ACCESSORIES
HOSPITAL UNIT: EXSUDEX® XL-i
The Exsudex® XL-i is a state-of-the-art compact medical device that is used for the application of regular negative pressure wound therapy, for open abdomen negative pressure therapy and for negative pressure therapy in combination with instillation. Three options with one device:
1 therapy unit for:
regular negative pressure therapy: continuous mode and variable intermittent mode open abdomen negative pressure therapy negative pressure therapy in combination with instillation

Exsudex® instillation technique
Negative pressure therapy, in combination with the administration / removal of a topical instillation fluid in the wound bed, can have a positive impact on reducing the bacterial load in the treatment of infected, complex and non-healing wounds by means of a specific wound dressing ( set with green hydrophobic double spiral foam with honeycomb structure, for optimal administration and drainage of the instillation fluid).
Instillation can be applied with the Exsudex® XL-i: the user can choose between:
- automatic instillation mode
- manual instillation mode
With the Exsudex® instillation technique, the instillation fluid is administered via a double lumen instillation suction pad.
Benefits of the Exsudex® instillation technique include:
Prevention of leakages in the dressing since the patient is always in a correct position when administering the fluid.
The quality of the dressing can be checked at the time of instillation fluid administration.
For larger tissue defects, the application of multiple double-lumen suction pads is possible, which ensures optimum distribution of the instillation fluid administered.
The instillation software with the Exsudex® XL-i also contains pre-programmed protocols for instillation of eg Prontosan® (soaking time 15 minutes).
Nevertheless, all parameters can be changed by the user at any time. Both the instillation fluid and the dressing type (foam or gauze) can be selected.
